American idol Sanjaya and the crying girl - What others say

What others say:

1) My question to you: Did someone pay this precious girl to "ACT" as if she was a mad, crazy fan of Sanjaya's? Tell me your thougts on Sanjaya and the crying girl.

2) For the life of me I don't know.... The thing to me is, that she was the only one... I remember the days of old, Elvis Presley, now he made women cry... The little girl was just that, a LITTLE girl. I do not think she was paid to do that. However I do think she represented the audience that he attracted. And thank goodness he didn't win...

3) I agree with you...thank god he didn't go furthur than he did. Its a shame they paired Sanjaya with Joe Perry. Although when Kelly Clarkson sang with Perry...that was awesome!

4) I definitely do not think that was an act. That crying little girl was amazing, and I have a feeling if I were in her position, I would have been doing the same thing. I want to see the Idols live tour so badly this summer, it's coming to the city my college is in! I'm so excited! When Sanjaya comes on stage though, I don't even know what I'll do. I think I may just cry from the sheer excitement of it. Needless to say, I am a huge Sanjaya fan. I don't care what anyone says about him, either. He got more publicity than any other idol this season and a LOT of people love him. He's going to have a great career no matter what he decides to do~!

5) No, I believe that she really did cry over him and I think it was just because she liked him so much and actually seen him in person. Fans are like that.
In his own way, Sanjaya made a huge impact on the show and he is an Idol to some people. My kids liked him and I think that he was okay and was better than people gave him credit for.

American idol Sanjaya Malakar and the crying girl

Sanjaya Joseph Malakar (born Sanjaya Shekar Malakar on September 10, 1989) was a finalist on sixth season of the most watched television show American Idol. Malakar gained national attention on American Idol advancing to 7th place in the contest with public votes, despite being badly received by the show's judges, particularly Simon Cowell.
Shortly after being eliminated, Malakar was invited to the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner as a People Magazine guest, where he met President George W Bush. [49] Malakar was popular among the press and fans at the dinner, and was even prompted for an autograph by New York Governor Eliot Spitzer.[50]
Malakar was featured in US Magazine's April 20, 2007 issue in an article entitled "Sanjaya Speaks" [51], where he was asked about his reactions to the parodies, Simon Cowell, Howard Stern and to his new celebrity status.
Malakar was featured in the May 7, 2007 issue of People Magazine, where he talked about his American Idol run, his younger years, and future aspirations. The article mentions that he was raised vegetarian, a diet he still mainly follows.

Ashley Ferl is a 13-year-old girl who has become known for crying during Sanjaya Malakar's and other contestants' performances on the Top 11 episode of American Idol 6. Ferl's family, who are from Riverside, California, obtained tickets on a website to attend the dress rehearsal of the program. Since Ferl cried a great deal at the rehearsal, producers offered her family seats for the final taping of the episode.[7]
Ferl started to cry not long after Malakar began his performance of "You Really Got Me," and was invited to hug him on stage immediately following his performance. She was also shown crying for several more contestants. At the end of the show, she went on stage a second time, and got a chance to hug and get autographs[8] from of all of the contestants and was introduced to the judges.

It's Jordin Sparks!!

What others say:

1) I have been telling people that blake had no chance in the competetion with Jordin and I was right... She won.. hahah
2) What do you mean 'no chance'?? Blake got some of those 74 million votes, ya think. I know of at least 15 that belong to him. I don't know what you're so happy about- #2 is nothing to be ashamed of. He had to have some kind of chance, he made it to the finale. Go laugh somewhere else, he made it to the big time!!

3)I haven't really watched american idol since the second season. I usually just watch the try-outs. But now since its come to light the way they encourage the people who can really sing just to get them up in front of the judges to be embarrased on tv, i kind of feel bad for them and doubt that i will watch it at all next year. I did hear the buzz that jordan would probably win. Although like others have proved, even getting to second will get them a career. And heck even some that didn't make it that far are making it big.

4) I had the feeling Jordin would win, or at least make it to the finals. I've felt this way since the top 24. If the competition was based on voice alone, Melinda deserved to win. If it were based on entertainment value and style, Blake deserved to win. But I knew all along that people would be voting for Jordin. She appeals to a younger demographic than Melinda, and the younger demographic tends to vote much harder. I never like Jordin, but if people voted for her, then she deserved to win.

5) Of course Jordin won as expected as this is a singing contest.
Thank God the voters had come to their senses after making a big mistake voting out Melinda. If it had been between Melinda and Jordin, Melinda would have won.

6) After five emotionally draining months, American Idol's sixth season is over. (WHAT AM I GOING TO DO WITH MY LIFE?) And yet, in some ways, the real competition starts now. Over the next few months, BMG's Clive Davis and the folks at 19 Entertainment will be deciding which of the current crop of contestants they'll be signing to record deals. (Last year, they signed winner Taylor Hicks, runner-up Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry, and Kellie Pickler, while foolishly passing on Elliott Yamin, who's scoring some pretty impressive numbers with his self-titled indie release; it's No. 20 on Billboard's album chart this week.

Barring some unforeseen revelations about a secret, felony-filled past, this year's top 2 — Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis — ought to land under Clive's wing, and I'd be shocked if popular third-place finisher (and Simon's personal favorite) Melinda Doolittle doesn't get a BMG deal herself. But after those three, the future looks fuzzier. Based on the startling lack of screentime during the Idol finale for popular contestants like LaKisha Jones (pictured), Chris Richardson, Phil Stacey, and Gina Glocksen, I'm going to go out on a limb and bet that Clive & Co. pass on the remaining nine finalists — although even as I write this, I'm overcome with a horrible, sinking fear that they'll try to score a few quick bucks off the Sanjaya phenomenon, despite the fact that there's nothing left of that lemon but a few strips of rind.

Still, I think it'd be a mistake to pass on LaKisha. True, her song choices throughout the season proved that she's got a fairly limited musical imagination, but if she's put in the studio with the right team of writers and producers, I still think she could be a winner on the charts. There's something authentic about Kiki — a warm, funny vibe that's been evident in her post-Idol interviews but never seemed to come through (or got left on the editing-room floor) during her Idol run. Is it so wrong that I have a vision of her debut CD kicking off with a revamped version of Another Bad Creation's "Iesha"? ("LaKiiiiiisha, you are the girl that I never had. But I want to get to know you better...")

Was it fair for Melinda to go?....The debate continues

Was it fair for Melinda to go? Is American Idol contest a singing contest or a personality or a beauty contest? The debate continues.........

What others are saying:

1) "There are many people complaining that American Idol is a singing competition and that Melinda should have beat out Blake for this reason.

I just wanted to say that American Idol, although it claims to be, is NOT a singing competition.

I made the respose to someone in one of my posts that if this were a singing competition and only a singing competition, then the contestants would be placed behind a shadow screen, with a mic stand, and never have to move...only sing. Then we would judge based on the person's singing skills.

This is not what American Idol is! American Idol is an entertainment competition. We pick our favorites based not only on singing, but on performance, personality, uniqueness, and obviously looks. You may hate that it is like this, but you take part in it too. That's just how it goes. If the contestant has an amazing voice, but lacks any personality or performance skills...America will send that person home!

The whole package is what the majority of America wants. What Blake lacks in singing, he makes up for in all other areas, and that is why he is still there. And Jordin is wonderful and I think she goes without saying.

You can bring up Ruben and Fantasia, but all I can say is where are they now? Yeah, I don't know either.

Taylor Hicks won last year because of his dancing, personality, and uniqueness (that grey hair!). He was a good singer too, but I think it should be obvious by now that this is not JUST a "singing competition"."

2) "I agree completely! The judges do say it's a singing competition. They also comment on what clothes they wear and how their hair looks. They also talk about being unique and having the IT factor. Popularity plays a small part in this too. People will vote for their favorite competitor until they're no longer in the running. I admit that I don't normally vote, but I did vote over 70 times on charity night. If I were to vote, it would be based on different factors...not the singing alone. I'd be bored to death if a contestant got up there and sang the perfect song with no movements or emotions. Heck even Simon has commented on how you've gotta have the whole package.

Just a lil tidbit of my own, but I'm glad they've stopped all the drama on the show. They were getting too carried away with all the crap and dissing the "bad" auditions. I find it much more enjoyable to watch a serious competition without all the mockery.

3) "How do you define "personality" and "performance skill" anyway? Doesn't Melinda possess both of these plus her God-sent voice? What does Fantasia have that Melinda does not have? If this is not a singing contest why did the judges keep reminding the contestants and all viewers about this? Who have the final say about what American Idol should be, the judges or the untrained voters?"

4) "Wow! I was really floored at first. then I started thinking about it. Melinda is the only one that probably does not have teeny boppers voting for her. I mean Jordin is a teenager and all teenagers or tweens want to be like her or want her to win. Then all the teens and tween think Blake is cute as anything. So the teeny/tweeny vote is gone to them. All of the adults are voting for one of the three Melinda, blake or Jordin, so that vote is split 3 ways. That means Melinda went home this week. I am still happy.

for the first time I am happy with any of the final three winning. I think all 3 of them will go very far. I don't know who I think will win. I guess it just depends on there performances on the finale night. They both are so different from each other and both are very good in my opinion."

5) "That's quite right! All the teeny boppers who voted for Sanjaya a few weeks ago are now voting for Blake and may be Jordin as well. I can't imagine girls of say 10 to 15 years voting for Melinda, can you?"

6) " was quite shocked, thought melinda would be able to compete in the finals. maybe all the girls were voting for blake or something hehe. but that's ok, it's just the beginning of melinda's career, no? she's already proven that she is a great singer, regardless whether she wins american idol or not"

America got it wrong AGAIN!

What others said:

1) "I am so upset that I don't even want to watch it next week. Blake was horrible and can't sing I don't even believe it has to do with the peoples vote anymore I think the show is phony. I just couldn't believe it, I just turned off the television. I think they have it set up for Jordan to win at least I hope because if Blake wins I will never watch the show again. I thought it was bad when they had Sanjaya on there but this is ridiculous"

2) "oh i know what you mean. i was so mad i turned it off also.its sickening to see how this show has went. to throw off the best singers when this is susposed to be all about singing is beyond stupid. sad bunch of people. thanks for replying"

3) "Again America got it wrong. People are talking about how Melinda doesn't have personality and Blake does, well guess what, this is a singing competition not a personality contest nor is it a fashion show who can dress the best. You can not compare Blake's singing to Melinda. When you listen to the radio it's Melinda's voice you want to hear not Blakes and how will you see all the so called personality on the radio??? I am not even going to vote next week"

4) "American Idol -is- a personality contest. Just being able to sing well is not enough and it never has been. If you want to be a star, you need to have a good personality or nobody will remember you! Being an Idol is so much more than just singing. People will vote for the person they like the best, not necessarily who is the best. That is just the way things work, there's no point in saying America got it wrong.

I won't lie, Melinda has a better voice, but in this kind of contest that's not the only thing that counts"

5)"I agree howard, its susposed to be about singing but it seems its not. blake just acts goofy. and thats not personality. it just shows how inmature he is. melinda is a lady and she can sing like an angel. and it makes me mad that she got kicked off"

6)"I agree with you howard. this IS a singing competition.. im so sad to hear Melinda voted off. after last night i was so sure of seeing Melinda win the title next week. Oh man, if Blake wins the title.. William Hung should go for auditions again next season and im sure he will get the golden ticket. Beatboxing is not a form of singing, i repeat NOT a form of singing. Melinda has proven to be consistent each and every week. she delivers perfect tune. Im so confused of what the public wants? Melinda CAN sing and American Idol is a singing competition. tsk..tsk.."

7)"Yes, now that Melinda has been voted out to the shock of many matured viewers, I hope America would not make the same mistake again next week. We all know now Jordin should be the winner. If Blake wins, I'd never watch American idol again, ever!"

Melinda is out! What happened to America?

Oh No! Melinda has been voted out to the shock of many across the globe. Whatever happened to America? Who were the voters and who were the non-voters?

This was a shock. It should not have happened. The voting system should and must be changed to prevent only a certain age group to dominate the voting. It is strongly believed that the reason Melinda has to go home was the fact that a higher percentage of the voters are from the younger age groups.

American idol - Emotional departure of Lakisha Jones

Lakisha's Jones journey ended last night, which wasn't unexpected. She started off this competition with a masterful performance, but was never able to equal that earlier high note. She often ignored the advice of the guest judges and made some horrible song choices like Diamonds Are Forever and Stayin Alive. But when Seacrest announced she was out and Blake was safe, I was sad. The video showcasing her journey said more about her than we had heard all season.

Throughout her life, Kiki struggled and was enslaved in a cycle of dependency created by the Leftist elites who want to maintain their hold over the underclass by creating a permanent class of clients.

But for the emotional departure of Kiki, last night's show was sorely lacking. At this stage of the competition with only two weeks left, America deserves better than a pre-recorded Pink performance that wasn't all that. Furthermore, her strappy slut suit looked like a lobster trap and she needed to shave her arm pits. A few weeks back I griped that she didn't show up for Idol Gives Back Week and this is what we missed?

American Idol Season 6

American Idol Season 6 began on Tuesday, January 16, 2007. The premiere episode of the season drew a massive audience of 37.7 million viewers, peaking in the last half hour with more than 41 million viewers.

The Top 24 Contestants were, females: Alaina Alexander, Amy Krebs, Antonella Barba, Gina Glocksen, Haley Scarnato, Jordin Sparks, LaKisha Jones, Leslie Hunt, Melinda Doolittle, Nicole Tranquillo, Sabrina Sloan, and Stephanie Edwards. males: AJ Tabaldo, Blake Lewis, Brandon Rogers, Chris Richardson, Chris Sligh, Jared Cotter, Nicholas Pedro, Paul Kim, Phil Stacey, Rudy Cardenas, Sanjaya Malakar, and Sundance Head.

On February 22, 2007, around 32 million votes were cast and 4 contestants were eliminated, those being: Amy Krebs, Nicole Tranquillo, Paul Kim, and Rudy Cárdenas. The following elimination week, A.J. Tabaldo, Nicholas Pedro, Alaina Alexander, and Leslie Hunt were voted off. The final week of eliminations before the Top 12 was announced ousted Antonella Barba, Sabrina Sloan, Jared Cotter and Sundance Head.

As usual, the Top 12 will slowly dwindle down one by one each week before the next American Idol is crowned. The theme of the March 13, 2007 show was a tribute to Diana Ross. On March 14, 2007, Brandon Rogers was voted off. However, DialIdol, a prediction site, had Brandon listed in 5th place overall — with Stephanie Edwards in last place for the second week in a row. On March 19, 2007, all 11 remaining contestants performed to the theme of "The British Invasion." The next day, Stephanie Edwards was announced as being voted off. After that, Chris Sligh, then Haley Scarnato were voted off.

The website Votefortheworst.com, which encourages people to vote for the least talented performer each week, endorsed Sanjaya Malakar. Satellite radio personality Howard Stern joined the push for Sanjaya, telling listeners that making the worst singer the American Idol would shake things up and make the program more interesting. However, on April 18, Sanjaya was voted off.

The Top 6 singers performed inspirational music as a part of the first ever "Idol Gives Back" telethon-inspired event which raised more than $60 million in corporate and viewer donations. None of the singers were eliminated, and the votes from that week will be added with the votes from the following week to eliminate two singers. Both weeks saw an extension of the regular two hour voting window, which was increased to four.
